Hans “Honas” Wagner is a baseball legend. He drove a Lambert car (Model H) and wrote a testimonial to my ancestors in Anderson, Indiana that they used in promotional literature, along with dozens of other letters from satisfied Lambert owners.
“Your Model H car…as a hill climber is a wonder,” he wrote. “As you know I do most of my motoring here among the hills (of Pennsylvania) and there is none too steep for my car.” He concluded, “and as to speed, I have found mine just as you represented it, and am well pleased with my purchase.”
Honas was the top major league batter for eight seasons, tied for the most in National League baseball history. He was the shortstop for the Pittsburg Pirates 1897-1917 and was in the first class at the Baseball Hall of Fame with Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth.
